X (INSPIRED BY PETER ABELARD’S SELF CONVICTED SOLITUDE)
Even though the times change, the experiences of humans, don’t differ much… and individuals, even crowds being enslaved to the systems, with lives they don’t deserve… one of the few who successfully is renowned today the intellectual, teacher Peter Abelard of 11th century France; after all the misfortunes he has experienced due to being through to his heart, has put himself to solitude. Inspired from Peter Abelard’s life, X focuses on the humanness of the story and aims to find a spark that’s timeless.
After a successful career in NYC, being back in Istanbul, Basaran’s Company RAu will premiere it’s newest creation “X” at the Kadikoy Entropi Stage on the 3rd of November. Entropi Sahne was founded by Yurdaer Okur in 2017 and has been a hosting / producing venue for various edgy, interdisciplinary productions.
Ataman Girisken will be accompanying Basaran on this production with the visual designs. And the costume is designed by the renown fashion designer, Asli Filinta.
Basaran will be challenging himself to some vulnerable places with this interdisciplinary piece, after his internationally recognized contemporary dance works with his Company RAu.
The text has been recomposed by Basaran from the text of Ronald Duncan’s ‘Abelard and Heloise’ -translated to Turkish by Zeynep Avci- and from the original letters that were translated by Ralph Fletcher Seymour.

Zamanlar değişse de, insanların tecrübeleri çok benzer.. Hiç haketmedikleri yaşamlara insanları köle eden sistemlerde harcanan, unutulmuş bireyler, kitleler.. Adını unutturmamayı başaran 11. Yüzyıl Fransa’sında yaşamış ünlü entelektüel, öğretmen ve düşünür Peter Abelard, aşkı uğruna başına gelen bahtsızlıklar sonucu kendini münzevi bir yaşama kapatır. Peter Abelard’dan yola çıkıp insani bir hikayeyi araştıran X, bir yandan da zamansız bir anlatı.
Konsept, reji ve performansını Başaran’ın gerçekleştirdiği bu disiplinlerarası çalısmada görsel tasarımlarıyla Başaran’a Ataman Girişken eslik ediyor. Eserin kostümü de usta moda tasarımcısı Aslı Filinta’ya ait.
X’in metni Korhan Başaran tarafından, Zeynep Avcı’nın çevirdiği Ronald Duncan’ın ‘Abelard ve Heloise’ oyunundan ve Başaran’ın çevirdiği, İngilizcesini 1722 latin versiyondan Ralph Fletcher Seymour’un günümüze kazandırdığı, Abelard ve Heloise’in orijinal mektuplarından alıntılarla oluşturulmuştur.
